Blogging for money is something that is relatively new (the last decade) and is quickly becoming popular. The number of blogs in the past ten years has risen from a couple hundred to millions. With easy-to-use and free blogging platforms like Blogger, Wordpress, and many others, thousands of people create a blog every day. Making money with blogs usually employs some sort of advertising. The key is to have quality content that will bring readers back on a regular basis.

Once you have regular readers on your blog you can put up advertising to start generating money.It is important that the advertisements be discreet and not intruding. Think about the last time you visited a site that was full of ads flashing all over, and filling the page. It makes it hard to find the content you are looking for and is distracting. What did you think of the site? Where you annoyed? Most people would say that distracting ads make them resent the site a little. With billions of web pages on the internet it is usually very easy for users to find a different site if they aren't pleased with yours.

Some companies will pay you per blog post that you complete. These usually have strict requirements to follow with your writing. It is usually hard to get these kinds of jobs as they almost always hire within their own company and do not outsource.

Finally, you can use a blog to advertise for a product or service that you have available. If you have a decent amount of regular readers then they probably would be more accepting to suggestions from you for products. Try to keep the advertising to a minimum though. Constantly telling readers what to buy can become annoying and it loses its effectiveness.
